New Delhi, Dec. 5, 2025: India’s largest airline, IndiGo, cancelled approximately 500 flights on Friday in the national capital till midnight for the fourth consecutive day, causing chaos for passengers at various airports, who claimed that other carriers increased their fares drastically. IndiGo’s recent cancellations bring the overall number to over 1,000.
Delhi airport is the worst hit due to the cancellations for the day, followed by Chennai airport, which cancelled flights till 06:00 PM IST.
Though IndiGo has informed the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) of full restoration of operations till February next year, it has caused concerns for passengers who have bookings for the next two months, while the airline issued an apology for the whole situation.
In a meeting with the Minister of Civil Aviation a day earlier, IndiGo attributed the disruption to challenges in crew planning and implementation of the revised Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL) norms, along with seasonal weather-related constraints.
Meanwhile, the Delhi airport has also issued an advisory on social media platform
X, stating full support and medical assistance for the passengers at the airport. (Source: PIB)
