NEW DELHI: Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma met Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in New Delhi on Sunday.
In a social media post, the Chief Minister said that the meeting was productive and focused on improving railway connectivity in the region. Among the key issues discussed were the introduction of three new Amrit Bharat trains to and from Assam and the construction of a new rail link connecting Umrangso with Lanka in Hojai district.

Dr. Sarma also urged the minister to expedite work on the railway line from Kokrajhar to Gelephu Mindfulness City in Bhutan and to provide more stoppages in Assam for major trains passing through the state.
He added that the Union Minister has consented to these proposals.
