Six teams participate; event to conclude on March 10
Jammu, March 8, 2026: The Central Reserve Police Force organised a Volleyball Tournament under its Civic Action Programme at SIKS Government Higher Secondary School Udhampur to promote sports and encourage youth participation in Udhampur.
The tournament has been organised by the 137 Battalion of the CRPF, with six teams participating in the competition. The event will conclude on March 10, 2026.
The opening match was played between Tikri Volleyball Club and Jaganoo Volleyball Club, featuring energetic performances and skillful gameplay. Alongside the matches, CRPF personnel and local coaches conducted team-building drills and provided guidance to young players on fitness, teamwork and sports discipline.
Commandant M. K. Sicon, along with Deputy Commandants R. L. Meena and Suresh Kumar, attended the event. Also present were Ashok Padha, Joint Secretary Ashok Kumar, and other officials, coaches, players, media personnel and local residents.
During the tournament, trophies, medals, sports kits and refreshments were distributed among players and spectators. Various sports equipment and prizes were also given to encourage local youth to adopt healthy lifestyles and actively participate in sports.
Local coaches and officials motivated the participants to maintain physical fitness, build teamwork and develop a positive mindset for overall well-being.
Locals appreciated the efforts of the CRPF in organising the tournament and requested the force to continue holding such events in the future. Officials said similar tournaments had also been organised by the battalion in 2024 and 2025 to strengthen engagement with local youth through sports activities. (Source: PIB)
