HONG KONG, Nov. 27, 2025: Firefighters were still battling a massive blaze on Thursday that tore through a high-rise complex in Hong Kong, killing at least 44 people and leaving hundreds missing, according to authorities.
The inferno — the city’s worst in decades — erupted on Wednesday afternoon in an eight-building housing estate with 2,000 apartments. The fire spread rapidly through the densely populated residential blocks, sending shockwaves across the financial hub known for its towering structures.
Police said three men were arrested in connection with the incident, stating that flammable materials left behind during maintenance work caused the fire “to spread rapidly beyond control.” (Source: PIB)
