New Delhi, October 31, 2025: India’s Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth on Friday exchanged an agreement on the framework for the US-India Major Defence Partnership in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The agreements were signed during talks between the two leaders on the sidelines of the regional ASEAN Defence Ministers’ meeting in Kuala Lumpur.
The Defence Minister said the agreement will usher in a new era in the already strong India-US defence partnership. He added that the Defence Framework will provide policy direction to the entire spectrum of the India-US defence relationship.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh shared a post on X and wrote, “Had a fruitful meeting with my US counterpart Pete Hegseth in Kuala Lumpur. We signed the 10-year ‘Framework for the US-India Major Defence Partnership’. This will usher in a new era in our already strong defence partnership.

This Defence Framework will provide policy direction to the entire spectrum of the India-US defence relationship. It is a signal of our growing strategic convergence and will herald a new decade of partnership.
Defence will remain a major pillar of our bilateral relations. Our partnership is critical for ensuring a free, open, and rules-based Indo-Pacific region.” (Source: PIB)
