NEW DELHI, Nov 27, 2025: Two US National Guard soldiers were shot near the White House on Wednesday afternoon. The incident occurred at the Farragut West metro station, just two blocks from the White House, at a time when the streets and nearby businesses were crowded.
FBI Director Kash Patel said both soldiers — deployed as part of a militarized anti-crime operation across the United States ordered by President Donald Trump — were in “critical condition.” Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser described the attack as “a targeted shooting” carried out by a single gunman.
Reacting to the incident, President Donald Trump called it an “act of terror.” He said the suspect has been identified and is believed to have entered U.S. territory from Afghanistan in 2021. President Trump also urged his government to re-examine Afghan immigrants who entered the United States during former President Joe Biden’s administration. (Source: PIB)
