New Delhi, Nov. 20, 2025: Indian Coast Guard on Thursday apprehended a Bangladeshi fishing boat with 28 crew members for illegal fishing inside India’s Exclusive Economic Zone in the northern Bay of Bengal.
The vessel, detected during IMBL surveillance while performing evasive manoeuvres, was intercepted and found to be violating the Maritime Zones of India Act.
None of the crew possessed valid permits, and their gear and catch confirmed active fishing operations.
The boat was escorted to Namkhana Fishing Harbour and handed over to the Marine Police for further legal action. (Source/PIB)
