New Delhi, September 25, 2026: The U.S. State Department has launched a new portal allowing members of the public to directly report suspected fraud or misuse involving U.S. visas.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio unveiled a new visa restriction policy targeting individuals who engage in or facilitate ‘birth tourism’. Marco Rubio noted that the directive targets those presently or previously engaged in facilitating birth tourism.
The policy is intended to target organizers and intermediaries who arrange such trips, as well as service providers who encourage applicants to provide false information as part of a visa application. Medical personnel abroad who knowingly assist such travel and the fraudulent utilisation of Medicaid are likewise captured under the guidelines.
The announcement was accompanied the same day by the launch of a broader tool: an online portal allowing members of the public to submit information directly to the State Department about suspected fraud or misuse involving a U.S. visa.
The State Department said the new portal can be used to report suspected misconduct involving fraudulent documents or false travel plans, sham marriages arranged by intermediaries, shell companies, fabricated job offers, and practices associated with ‘birth tourism’.
