BEL and Bellatrix Aerospace sign MoU to jointly design and manufacture satellite systems and payloads, aiming to strengthen India’s indigenous capabilities in Very Low Earth Orbit missions.
New Delhi, March 06, 2026: Bharat Electronics Limited and Bellatrix Aerospace have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate on the design, development and manufacturing of satellite systems and payloads.
The partnership combines BEL’s experience in advanced electronics and mission-critical payloads for defence and strategic applications with Bellatrix Aerospace’s capabilities in satellite propulsion systems and satellite subsystems.
The collaboration aims to advance indigenous capabilities in satellite platforms designed for Very Low Earth Orbit operations. The initiative is expected to accelerate innovation and strengthen India’s capacity to build next-generation satellite systems for VLEO missions.
The MoU was exchanged between Rashmi Kathuria and Rohan M Ganapathy in the presence of BEL Chairman and Managing Director Manoj Jain and other senior officials.

Speaking on the collaboration, Ganapathy said Very Low Earth Orbit opens a new frontier for high-performance satellite missions but requires technologies designed specifically for that environment. He said the partnership would bring together complementary capabilities to accelerate the development of satellites for sustained VLEO operations. (Source: PIB)
