Actress Hansa Singh, who is also a tarot card reader, healer and occultist, and has been part of projects like Human, Criminal Justice 3, film: Goodbye and currently seen in new film Despatch alongside Manoj Bajpayee on ZEE5, says that recognition and money are big driving forces. She adds that this is what makes Bollywood such a big dream for many.
“Whatever gives you quick money and recognition is aspirational to Gen X. Post 1994 the very sunshine win of Miss India, Miss world n Miss Universe suddenly the profession of being an actor became the most happening. Sought after and no more looked down. Earlier it was only for few who had either theatre background or just by sheer beauty would plunge into to earn their bread and butter,” she says.
She adds, “Bollywood is a dream of many. But it should not be your main stay. It’s fluctuating and very competitive without any monthly salary, which one gets in other professions. So I would say. If it’s written in your destiny no one can stop you and if it’s not, you can’t be there. The Lord Venus (shukr) has to be in your natal chart placed well for you to be in any film industry. Recognition is very subjective. For me, if I am recognised by a few at random places, I feel good but if not recognised where I wish to be, it leaves me clueless.”
Talking about star kids, she says, “They get by the virtue of being born in a filmy family. The connections get them the films easily. They do go through the grind to ace in all departments, yet a second chance can be given after failure of debut film but thereafter it’s their journey which may not be as their parents. All failures, too, are their own.”
She adds, “I am inspired by destiny. To see the journey of so many actors, they’re ups and downs and resurrection. I feel inspired by one and only Mr. Amitabh Bachchan’s journey.”
