KOHIMA (Nagaland), Sep. 21, 2024: Joining the global community, the International Day of Peace was observed today at Rivenburg’s Chapel Hall, Baptist College, Kohima, under the theme, “Cultivating a Culture of Peace.” The programme was organised by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Baptist College Kohima, in collaboration with MasterPeace Nagaland, with the Task Force for Music and Arts (TaFMA) Nagaland as an event partner.
Addressing the event as the keynote speaker, Rev. Fr. Charles D’Souza, Principal of St. Paul School Phesama, said that peace is not found somewhere outside but within oneself. He called for efforts to make peace a daily practice, not just an occasional one, and urged for collective efforts to create peace. He also underscored the importance of keeping one’s mind free from prejudices and gossip; a heart free from ill will, hatred, vengeance, and selfishness; and a body free from physical violence and abuse. Citing Mahatma Gandhi’s words, “Be the change you want to see in others,” and Jesus Christ’s teaching to “remove the log from your own eye in order to see the splinter in someone else’s eye,” he implored the audience to eliminate pride and selfishness from their lives in order to make peace a way of life.
Global Ambassador and MasterPeace COOLeaders member Imnainla Jamir also shared a message, urging the gathering to spread the message of development, peace, and harmony around the world. She reiterated that, as a global ambassador of the COOLeaders program of MasterPeace, they believe in creating peace together through dialogue and co-creation. Jamir also conveyed that peace means living in harmony with nature and our surroundings, stating that young people have the energy and power in their hands to make a difference for the betterment of this one and only planet. Jamir concluded her presentation by performing two guitar instrumental pieces.
