Actress-producer Namita Lal, who is known for her projects Lihaaf, Football-The Goal, and Oxygen and will soon be seen in Inn Galiyon Mein, says that all her projects are special for her. However, she adds that Lihaaf will always be special to her.
“My first big break in cinema came with the film “Lihaaf.” It was my debut in acting for the camera, and the film had an incredible journey, screening at Cannes, Germany, France, Kerala, Singapore, and many other places, often receiving standing ovations. That reaffirmed my love for acting,” she says.
Ask her what has been the best learning experience for her, and she says, “One of my best learning experiences has been bringing my authentic self into every role. Understanding the character’s circumstances and portraying them truthfully has been my guiding principle. For instance, my role in the Netflix film “Before Life, After Death,” or “Inn Galiyon Mein” which is coming to theatres on 14th March, or playing Nikhat in Oxygen. was incredibly challenging and rewarding. Shooting in Kashmir and taking on such diverse characters across ten films and multiple web shows has been a gift.”
She adds, “I hope to keep getting roles that challenge me and allow me to explore different facets of human experience. Acting gives me the opportunity to live so many lives in one lifetime.”
Ask her if she feels that actors should be have back up plans, and she says, “I don’t believe in having a backup plan, while the industry is tough, I truly feel that if you have the talent, perseverance, and dedication to your craft, success will follow. It’s essential to keep working on your skills even when there’s no work and remain patient and committed. If your heart is set on being an actor, pursue it wholeheartedly and face everything that comes with it. Keep striving toward your dream.”
