MUMBAI: Sanjay Nirupam was expelled from the Congress on April 3rd due to his “indiscipline” and repeated utterances critical of the party. The leader’s comments criticizing the grand old party’s leadership during seat-sharing negotiations with ally Shiv Sena (UBT) prompted the action. His name was removed by the party previously from its roster of prominent campaigners. The former Congress MP had voiced his displeasure and intended to run for the North-West Mumbai seat.
“I have finally decided to fulfil your much awaited desire and hereby announce that I choose to resign from the primary membership of All India Congress Committee,” Nirupam wrote in his letter.
