Joint drill between the naval forces of China and Russia begun

BEIJING, CHINA: A joint drill between the naval forces of China and Russia has begun at a military port in southern China. In a succinct statement, the Chinese defense ministry claimed that personnel from both sides had lately patrolled the western and northern Pacific Oceans; the operation was unrelated to regional or global events, and it did not target any third parties.

The state broadcaster CCTV reported on Saturday that the exercise, which started in Guangdong province on Sunday and is expected to last until mid-July, included air defense, sea strikes, and anti-missile drills. The exercise’s goal was to show off the navies’ capabilities in addressing security threats and maintaining peace and stability both locally and globally.
